Authors & Contributors

Africa Verto’s work is produced by a mix of staff writers, contributing analysts, and guest contributors. This page explains who writes for us and what we expect of everyone whose byline appears on this site.

Staff writers and editors

Our staff cover assigned pillars, Capital, Markets, Governance, Infrastructure, Innovation, Energy, Trade and Industry, Society, Climate, and Ideas, and are responsible for the reporting, sourcing, and editorial judgment behind their bylined work.

Contributing analysts

Contributing analysts are subject-matter specialists, economists, policy researchers, sector analysts, who write for us on a recurring basis within their area of expertise. Their pieces go through the same editorial review as staff work.

Guest contributors

We occasionally publish pieces from founders, policymakers, researchers, and practitioners with direct, first-hand insight into a system we cover. Guest pieces are clearly labelled as such and are edited to our standards before publication, though the views expressed remain the author’s own.

What we expect of every byline

  • Every claim of fact must be sourced and, where possible, checkable by an editor before publication.
  • Contributors disclose any financial, professional, or personal interest relevant to what they’re writing about. Where a conflict can’t be managed through disclosure, we don’t run the piece under that byline.
  • We hold outside contributors to the same standards of accuracy, sourcing, and fairness set out in our Editorial Standards,a guest byline is not a lower bar.

Author bios

Every contributor’s byline links to a short bio describing their role, relevant expertise, and any affiliations readers should be aware of when assessing their work.

Pitching us

We welcome pitches from analysts, researchers, and practitioners with a specific, evidenced signal to report on, not a general topic or trend claim. To pitch a piece, write to editor@africaverto.com with:

  1. The specific development or data point you want to write about, and why it matters now
  2. Your relevant expertise or access
  3. A short outline of the argument you’d make

We read every pitch. We can’t respond individually to all of them, but we’ll follow up if there’s a fit.
